This is just a very small collection of some of the things my children have said over the course of the past week.
Braeden: Happy Birthday, Mom!
Donovan: It’s not Mom’s birthday, Braeden. Her birthday is next week.
Me: Um. No it isn’t.
Donovan: Ok, maybe next month.
Me: No, my birthday isn’t until October. It’s August. Preston’s birthday is next month.
Donovan: Oh. *looks confused*
Me: Ok, first it’ll be Braeden’s birthday, then Preston’s, then Daddy’s, then mine.
Donovan: Your birthday is last?
Donovan: Why? Because you were born last?
Donovan: My, how you’ve grown these past few days!
In the process of working on compound words.
Air + plane = airplane; he caught that one much quicker than the other words on his worksheet due to his recent obsession with them.
Donovan: Air… PLANE!
Me: Good job.. You pretty much knew that one, huh? Those are your favorite.
Donovan: Yep! My favorites are the ones that go at super soaking speed!
Upon seeing a radio tower:
Donovan: OH!!! *pointing excitedly* Is that the Eiffel Tower?
After pulling up to a 2-way stop sign at a busy intersection behind two other vehicles and waiting for our turn to go:
Donovan: Well.. it’s easy to know which way to go. You go in the direction there’s no traffic! *pointing* That way is course.. and that way is traffic. *pointing the opposite direction*
Jeff: What? *looks at me* Where does he get this stuff?
Then we see the sign…
A mis-read… It could happen to anyone. But now we know where the
course cross is, too, should we ever need to go there.
